ICOG, SPJ plan Sunshine Week program
sunshine_week.jpgThe Indiana Coalition for Open Government and the Indiana Professional Chapter of the Society of Professional journalists are hosting a public program to discuss the problems and possibilities of freedom of information laws. The discussion, scheduled for March 16 at the Nora branch library in Indianapolis, marks the annual national observance of Sunshine Week.

Candidates for governor offer views on openness
After all the debates, commercials and campaign appearances, voters might think they know everything about the candidates for governor this year. But there’s one thing that hasn’t been discussed much: open government. For voters interested in access issues such as public records and open meetings, ICOG has the information you need - at least the modest amount candidates shared with us, that is.

Indiana Debate Commission going strong
Five years ago, the Indiana Coalition for Open Government joined a broad-based array of citizen and media organizations to create the Indiana Debate Commission. It was an ambitious project with the idea of establishing a more open and citizen-focused debate process in Indiana. Now we're glad to report that the commission (IDC) is a going concern that this year is organizing five debates featuring the candidates for governor and U.S. senator.
