More details for Citizen Journalism Boot Camp announced
Planning for the Indiana Coalition for Open Government's Citizen Journalism Boot Camp is nearly complete with Brant Houston, holder of the Knight Chair in investigative reporting at the University of Illinois, added to the program. Houston, former director of Investigative Reporters and Editors, will be among several presenters who will help citizen journalists grow stronger in their work and offer guidance to beginners in getting started.

ICOG opposes all legislation closing handgun permit access

The Indiana Coalition for Open Government board has given its thumbs down to bills in the state Legislature that would close off public access to information on handgun permits, including the identities of those who are awarded licenses.

ICOG elects officers
The Indiana Coalition for Open Government elected a new slate of officers at its annual meeting Jan.29. The officers are Keith Robinson, president; Terri Jett, vice president; Michael Jesse, secretary; and Gerry Lanosga, treasurer. The board thanked Phyllis Price for her long tenure, dedication and excellent work as treasurer over the years. She remains on the board.


IU j-school becomes administrative partner

The Indiana Coalition for Open Government formalized a partnership with Indiana University's School  of Journalism at the group's annual meeting Jan. 29. Under the agreement, the journalism school will take over much of ICOG's administrative work, such as producing its newsletter, updating its Web site and handling its mailings.
