Congratulations to Gerry Lanosga, who produced an investigative series for WTHR-TV that is sweeping national journalism awards. Gerry’s NBC team in Indianapolis, including photojournalist Bill Ditton and reporter Bob Segall, broadcast a series that highlighted the failure of tornado siren warning systems in Indiana—a story that media outlets across the state continue to cover.
The series has been recognized as best in investigative reporting in the National Headliner Awards, has won the $10,000 Jack R. Howard award given by Scripps Howard, and most recently was awarded a certificate by the Investigative Reporters and Editors.
Gerry’s computer-assisted reporting skills were put to best use with sophisticated mapping software finding flaws that even emergency management officials were not tracking. Keep an eye on our Web site for a “how to” road map on this project.
