The Indiana Coalition for Open Government (ICOG) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to the promotion of open government and freedom of information throughout all levels of state and local government in Indiana.

ICOG brings together journalists, lawyers, academics and citizen activists to advocate for greater access to government records and meetings. Our website gives you access to information specific to Indiana’s public records and meetings laws. But it also connects you to a national network of open government coalitions under the umbrella of the National Freedom of Information Coalition.

You’ll find ICOG news highlighted in the slide show above as well as in our top menu. National FOI news is linked at the bottom of the home page and under the ICOG News tab. Check out the Resources page for links to helpful online resources and downloads such as a template for making requests for public records in Indiana. You can use the search form at the top right to find previous articles by keyword. Also, you’ll find links to our social media feeds along the right-hand side of our pages.

While the resources here are free, we invite you also to become a member of ICOG, make a donation to support our work, or contact us to arrange for a speaker – and we hope you’ll do all of those things! Finally, we invite you to reach out and let us know about issues you’d like to see highlighted in this space. We want to hear about your experiences and struggles in the pursuit of public information. And we welcome submissions for guest blog posts.

We hope you find our site useful. Feel free to let us know what you think. Meanwhile, good luck in your own pursuit of government transparency.
