The same month Westfield Mayor Andy Cook spent $16 on parking at a west Ohio Street garage in downtown Indianapolis, Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness spent $1,756.55 on Delta flights to and from Italy.

Those expenses — along with data from Carmel and Noblesville — were gleaned from information provided by each of the Hamilton County cities in response to IndyStar public records requests.

IndyStar received receipts, expense reports and account statements for taxpayer-funded travel costs, including flights, hotels and dining, related to trips Hamilton County mayors took in 2021.

Of the four cities, Fishers taxpayers financed the highest amount of travel costs for their mayor last year.

Fadness’ travel costs were more than what Carmel, Westfield and Noblesville mayors spent combined, an examination of the records showed.
